First Friday Art Walk in Bemidji: Friday, September 4!

The BCAC invites you to First Friday Art Walk and Opening reception on September 4th from 5 to 7pm. Join us for the opening of “Unique Vision” featuring landscape photos from Utah, Wyoming and Minnesota by photographer Jon Heller. Don’t forget to check out the new inventory at Shop 426 while you are at the Art Center! All proceeds from Shop 426 benefit BCAC programming and the artists of Shop 426. Gallery North is pleased to present Steve Herriot as their September Showcase Artist featuring his landscape paintings in acrylic. Featured Artists for September are Monie Martin and Jeanine Brooks. Jeanine is a painter who is known for her whimsical oil paintings of the Bemidji area. Monie is a well known basket maker whose work ranges from the functional to Fine Art. Monie teaches basketry in the area and will be demonstrating her skills at the First Friday Open House. AUTHOR OF THE MONTH: Gallery North will also feature author Wendy Potratz who will read form her book "Agnes Plays Soccer" a humorous story for children on organized sports.

On Tues. Sept 22nd from 1-4 there will be class on wet on wet featuring a Northwood's landscape titled "Fall Birches" The class will be taught by Grace Garland and Marion Caroline Reil. Headwaters School of Music and the Arts invites you to their September First Friday Art Walk featuring jewelry artist Christina Thorne of Bad Cat Creations. Showcasing her unique style and original designs, Christina will also be on hand from 5pm to 7pm to discuss her creative process, what inspires her one-of-a-kind designs, and to give more information about her upcoming Jewelry Making Workshop in September. Bemidji Public Library
is pleased to announce that their featured artist for the Art Wall at the Bemidji Public Library in September will be photographer Kathy Jo McKeown. Exploring the world through a macro lens, Kathy’s work reflects the intimate beauty found in nature and with other subjects - up close. Kathy’s exhibit will focus on recent macro work and include other work as well. This exhibit was made possible, in part, by the Region 2 Arts Council allowing her to further her study of Macro Photography. Join us from 3-5 on Friday, September 4th to meet Kathy and visit with her about her work. Dunn Bros Coffee - presents the work of artist and photographer John Eggers and his exhibit “Local and Global: Photographs that make you wonder”. Join us as a part of the First Friday Art Walk and for John’s opening reception on September 4th from 5 to 7pm. John will be on hand to meet guests and talk about his “quest for the exceptional photograph”. To John “a good photograph is a mixture of exceptional lighting, unique composition, and an interesting subject that is just a bit out in left field. I try to encompass this in my work.” John's work will be on display through the month of September. The Beltrami County Historical Society, in conjunction with Gallery North, presents “School Days" - opening on September 4th at the History Center. Stop by and enjoy refreshments and Free Admission into the Museum on Friday September 7th and every First Friday from 10 to 4pm. Neilson Place - The North Country Health Services Art Committee is pleased to host
Artist Terry Honstead and her exhibit, “Another Take” as a part of the September First Friday Art Walk. Working with watercolor and acrylic and sometimes collage, Terry has created a collection of work to reflect her impression of life and other happenings around her. Join us on Friday September 4th from 3 to 5pm for Terry’s Opening Reception with an artist lecture starting at 3pm. Terry’s work will be on display now through the month of November for the pleasure of residents, families, staff and the community at large. The Cabin Coffeehouse and Café invites you to their First Friday Art Walk Reception on September 4th featuring artist Grace Garland. A member of Gallery North and Northern Artist Association President since 2004, Grace is a self taught artist focusing her talents on primarily realistic paintings with an “up north” theme. Grace works in a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil and acrylic and gives workshops at Gallery North to help introduce artists to the world of painting. Grace says it is wonderful to be a part of the art community. She finds art to be personally fulfilling and a great way to express her love for nature.
